Commissions · ATELIER ŠIMA

An enamel sign made only for you.

From first conversation to final firing — this is how a bespoke sign in vitreous enamel on copper takes shape at ATELIER ŠIMA.

1 — Conversation

A commission begins with a written brief. You describe the place, the wording, the architecture and any references that speak to you. There is no configurator: this first conversation shapes every design decision that follows.

2 — Design

Šimona develops a first proposal by hand — layout, typography, motif and colour palette. One revision round is included so the direction can be refined. A design deposit of 150 € reserves an atelier slot and starts the design phase.

3 — Making

Copper is cut, formed and engraved by hand. Enamel is applied in several layers, each fired at 750–850 °C. Multiple firings give the surface its depth and its lasting resistance to weather and time. Nothing is printed or laser-etched.

4 — Delivery

Each finished piece is packed carefully, insured for transport, and shipped with clear mounting notes. For heavier or architectural work we can advise on substrate, fixings and orientation before installation.
