FAQ · ATELIER ŠIMA
Questions about commissions.

Is every sign a one-off?
Yes. Each commission is drawn anew for a specific brief and executed by hand. Works in the portfolio serve as orientation; they are never reproduced identically.
What does a commission cost?
Every piece is calculated individually — by format, depth of the design work and technical execution. Finished-piece prices are deliberately not published; after your enquiry you receive a personal, binding quotation.
How large is the deposit?
The deposit is 150 €. It secures your place in the atelier and is credited against the total price. Design work begins once the deposit has arrived.
How many revisions are included?
One small revision round is included in the quotation. Each further round is a flat 70 €.
How long does production take?
We usually allow around four weeks for making after design approval. Packing and insured shipping follow. Šimona confirms the exact timing personally; waiting for your input or approval pauses the schedule. With the quotation, we confirm the genuinely available atelier month. The delivery date is agreed individually.
Can my enamel sign be mounted outdoors?
Many pieces are intended for outdoor use. Whether the specific work and its fixing suit your location is assessed by Šimona per project. For driving rain, hard frost or a strongly exposed position you receive an individual recommendation.
Can images or logos be used?
Yes, if you hold the necessary rights of use. Third-party works are not copied in the atelier.
What do you mean by a genuine enamel sign?
Genuine vitreous enamel: layers of enamel are applied to copper and fired at high temperature — not a print that merely imitates the look of enamel.
Does an enamel sign work as a wedding gift?
Yes. A sign carrying the names or the date stays with the shared home. There are two routes: you provide the brief and give the finished sign, or you give the commission itself and the couple settles wording, motif and format with the atelier. Design, making and firing take time, so please enquire well before the date.
Where do you ship?
Currently primarily to Germany. Austria (B2C) is on enquiry only until further notice. Other countries on enquiry.
